Portuguese Lessons

We run group Portuguese online classes at various levels ranging from complete beginners to advanced (A2/B1) – see our Portuguese course structure details. These courses comprise 30 lessons. There is a focus on conversation and encouraging students to speak Portuguese as quickly as possible.

The platform we use mostly is Zoom. For those students who are unfamiliar with this, we offer a free 30-minute trial session to familiarize you with how things work online.

Group sizes are small (4-8 students) which means the teacher can focus more easily on individual students‘ needs. It also gives you the chance to meet other students who are also going through the process of learning the language, so don´t be surprised if you start to make new friends!

As with all our courses, we charge 20€ enrolment fee and students pay for their group course books.

By their very nature, our Portuguese conversation online classes tend to have a more flexible structure to them. Your tutor can suggest topics for discussion, or, you may volunteer a focus to the discussions that take place. So, you can do some research on current events and lookup vocabulary that might be useful when speaking. In this way, you can steer some of the learning to cover things of interest and that are useful, whilst at the same time getting the guidance from the tutor. By taking a relaxed and informal approach, students often learn far more than they had anticipated.

Our private lessons are offered both online and at our language school (a combination of both is also possible). Some students prefer private lessons 1:1 or 2:1 for a number of different reasons: It may not be convenient to attend classes when they are being run, or you have a specific purpose for learning Portuguese. Some students just want to work at their own pace. Others live some distance away from the language school so travel can be an issue but remember, so long as you have an internet connection, you can join us online from anywhere in the world.

Private lessons are a very flexible option for our students because:

• You can start any time you want
• The number of sessions you wish to have, is up to you
• The structure of your course will be based on what you want and need
• The cost can be offset by two of you studying together for the price of one student so long as you are at the same level, which is perfect for family, friends or work colleagues

Some of our private students come to us in order to prepare for external examinations such as CIPLE, which is the exam that people need for their applications for Portuguese citizenship. We have successfully prepared a lot of students for this exam due to the level of experience of our teachers.
